A TOURNAMENT OF THREES
February 19, 2008
Three teams traveled through three states to Lake Okhissa to fish a three day tournament. Each team won one of three prizes. All three caught plenty of three pound bass that had to be released due to the slot limit. And Butch Mitchell caught the third largest bass ever weighed-in in an official TMTangler tournament Story / Results / Pictures

BLUE BIRD SKIES MAKES CHICKAMAUGA TOUGH
October 13, 2007
By: Bo Crawford
We had to call an audible on the lodging, but the lake Chickamauga turned out okay. Too bad comfortable weather for humans can make the fishing tough. Keepers were hard to come by but the Murray-Crawford team were able to catch enough to win. This was the last tournament of the year and Bo ended up in first place with AOY points, giving him his second Fly-Rod trophy in as many years. Story / Results / Pictures

CLUB PARTICIPATES IN ALABAMA B.A.I.T. PROGRAM
December 30, 2006
Lance Granger
As of the 2006 season TMT Anglers will begin participating in the State BAIT program. I will be handling this each year. The program basically allows our club to participate in a statewide effort to track tournament fishing on the reservoirs in the state. BAIT is a voluntary cooperative partnership between bass clubs and the Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. The intent of the program is to summarize information on bass fishing and is a useful tool to our State. The program is also useful to bass clubs for selecting tournament sites by outlining which lakes are producing numbers of fish and which lakes are producing large fish. To give you an example of what goes into the report…. The 2005 annual report includes information for more than 81,000 hours of fishing and the catch of more than 17,000 bass.
Our State makes this a pretty simple process. They provide post cards. On these you fill out the total fishing time, creel limit, size limit, number of anglers, number of bass caught, total weight caught, big bass, etc, etc. Cards are sent in after each tournament and the State compiles results for an annual report.
See link for more details and a copy of the 2005 BAIT report.
http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishing/freshwater/where/reservoirs/quality/
NOTE: Lance will receive one AOY bonus point for submitting 2005 BAIT data and another point for submitting 2006 BAIT data.

2007 OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT HOSTS SELECTED
February 18, 2006
The annual host lottery was held at the Lake Guntersville tournament. These members have until October 7, 2006 to organize their respective tournaments for the 2007 season. At the Lake Martin tournament they should be prepared make an announcement.
Spring 2007 - Bill Greene
Summer 2007 - Frank Dixon
Fall 2007 - Benson Murray
Should one of these members fail to adequately organize their tournament by the October 7 deadline, the following alternates will have two weeks come up with an alternate plan: Alternate 1 - Skip Davis, Alternate 2 - Clint Jacobs, and Alternate 3 - Bo Crawford.
At this point I will point out that there is no rule that prevents a Host from trading, selling, or bartering away his tournament date. We just need to track the transaction at Lake Martin.
We are all looking forward to these gentlemen putting us on the fish in 2007.

REIGN OF TERROR ENDS AT "THE ICE BOWL"
Lake Guntersville
February 18-19, 2006
The big question heading into the 2006 season was whether Bill and Russell's streak would ever end. They had managed to earn a check in 12 out of 12 tournaments straight. That question was finally answered when Mother Nature stepped in and took them off their game. Bo, Clint, and Benson were able to take advantage of the opportunity to step up, catch some fish, and finally end the infamous reign of terror. Story / Results / Pictures

CLUB HOUSEKEEPING
October 12, 2004
By: Bo Crawford
We had originally planned to have an organizational meeting at Lake Martin. But it looks like Clint and Skip are not going to be able to make it. So I just wanted to go over some various loose ends:
The Anglers of the Year (AOY) will be the first to win prizes from our excellent sponsors.
Bill and Russell are in the lead for their third straight AOY title. In the event only two boats participate, their victory is cinched.
Bill is in the lead to win his first FLY ROD trophy.
We have new prizes coming in 2005: West End Outdoors is going to pay a $25 gift certificate on the spot for every person who catches a bass that qualifies for the big bass board.
Charlie Brewer's Slider Company will be added as a sponsor for our 2005 AOY contest.
At Lake Martin, we will have the Host drawing for the 2005 season. Should your name be chosen be prepared to have your tournament information ready by December 15th. It is important that we have our schedule published by January 1.
There is a bylaws change proposed on the message board. The change would set limits on membership. ( It would be so nice if this would become a problem). If you don't vote your vote will automatically count as a "yes" vote.
Club Officers elections are currently being held on the message board. Be sure to read the new officer descriptions before you vote. They can be found in Article III of our bylaws.

FACKLER WINS 2003 FLY ROD TROPHY
October 19, 2003
The Lake Martin tournament is over and the final Angler Of the Year standings are in. Assuming that they do not challenge each other to a "fish off", Bill and Russell will once again share the AOY title as Co-anglers. Remember, in 2004 our sponsors are donating prizes worth $100 to the Angler(s) of the Year.
Because Russell caught the biggest bass between the two, he wins the coveted FLY ROD trophy for the second year in a row. Congratulations Russell!

SITE IMPROVEMENTS ANNOUNCED
August 31, 2003
CURRENT IMPROVEMENTS
I caught a big spotted bass bass yesterday and wanted to post a report. You guys know me, it would be too easy to just post a report. To make a long story short, I ended up making several changes to the site:
There is now a "just for fun" section of the site for posting personal fishing pictures. Basically, if you email pictures to me I would love to publish them. The only catch is that you need to post a report on the message board to accompany the pic.
Speaking of message boards, we have a new one. Our previous message board was too complicated and had too many pop-up ads. I have also created several new forums on this site.
One of the new forums is called the "interrogation room". This is private, password protected forum for members only. One of the primary goals of the club is to share information so that we all become better fishermen. The "integration room" is a forum where the winners of each tournament can answer questions about how they caught there fish. This goes hand in hand with our bylaw which states that winners MUST share specific locations and techniques used catch fish.
Another forum is called Club Business. This is the place to post feedback on club business like this.
FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS
Here are some future improvements that I am working on:
2004 Bylaws: There are several new proposals that The Board needs to vote on prior to the Lake Martin Tournament. I think we should also consider implementing some of these proposals prior to the Lake Martin tournament. (I'm thinking that in the event we have 7 or more boats, that a 2nd place payout should be added to our payout formula.)
Member Profiles Section: I will be sending out a questionnaire for a members profiles section that I will be developing. It will be a fun addition going forward since it looks like we will be adding new members in the coming year. As we do this, remember that most anglers who are considering memberships are not interested in fishing every tournament. Most have the "it is worth $20 so that I have the option of fishing with these guys every blue moon" attitude. For this reason I think the member profiles section will be a good enhancement to the site.

LAKE MARTIN UPDATE
August 31, 2003
As of now it looks like we have five boats planning to participate in the tournament. I spoke with Violet at Burke's Cove this week and there are still 4 beds available. I would love to fill these spots up. This is a great tournament for guests since we know what to expect from the accommodations. In speaking with Violet, I thought that I had it worked out so that we could rent the upstairs room with the big TV and have the Burke's handle cooking a steak dinner for us. Unfortunately, a wedding reception beat us to the punch making the gathering room available. But we need to remember this service for future tournaments because that is the way to go. All we would have to do is be lazy and watch football. Maybe it is OK that this didn't work out though, because Lance and Bill probably want to forget about football right now. As a Plan B, Violet has pointed us to the Red Hill Country Store. This sounds like the place to eat a good steak on Saturday night.
It looks like this is going to be a great tournament!

CLUB CHANGES ON THE WAY FOR 2003
November 10, 2002
Well the club is now a year older and a year wiser. During the course of the past year several ideas for improvements came up. In 2003 we should be able to put many of these ideas into use. Among the changes you will see are:
Specific rules for ties
Changes in the AOY points system
Modified "Fish Off" Rules
Inshore Tournament Rules
A recipes section to the site
A new club message board
Keep an eye out for these changes and let me know if you have any additional ideas. Also, I need your help proofing the site for things like broken links and poor writing.
I want to share a couple of additional links with you:
A year of fishing and AOY came down to a one ounce difference in trash fish! This fact alone tells us how important accurate scales are. This will be even more important once we have a larger attendance at our tournaments. Here is the link to the scales we will hopefully be able to eventually buy: http://equalizerscales.com/scales.htm An additional benefit of these scales is that I think they are less harmful to the fish.
Also, I wanted to share with you guys http://www.quik-cull.com . This is a culling system that doesn't require any holes to be punctured in the fishes mouth.
I know we're all going to schedule another set of great trips this year. My final thought is that I would like everyone to make a concerted effort to bring a guest to at least one tournament.
Tight Lines,
Bo
