Here is the boat slip where we stayed at Haddahavit. ( www.haddahavit.com)
Living area of Haddahavit.
Here is a nice deck area that overlooks the marsh around Happy Jack.
From this overlook you can see for miles around.
Here is a picture Bill took from the overlook of me throwing the cast net for bait.
With this throw I caught some shrimp, but we also caught finger mullet, croaker as well as several other types of minnows.
View from Haddahavit's deck.
Live shrimp and croaker costs 20 to 30 cents a piece and could only be bought at a bait shop 20 miles away. Throwing the cast net was worth it...
Here is what we used the bait to catch...
Bill fights another big one.
My turn to catch one. Hope my 10 lb p-line doesn't break.
P-line comes through again. This 14 1/2 lber is the biggest red I've ever caught.
He was in about 18 inches of water.
Bill has become the electric fillet knife master.
Redfish grilled on the half-shell.
Bill had a few drinks stayed up to watch the lunar eclipse from the overlook...
...consequently, he was not overjoyed with the 4:00 am wakeup call. 4 hours of sleep per night catches up with you after a whole week.
400 lbs of shrimp will fill several ice chests.
Keep those babies on ice.
Shrimp aren't the only critters caught in the nets.
A laundry basket full of these makes for a good crab-boil.
We tried wade fishing for specks but struck out.
The Lowrance X15 comes in handy when it comes to finding your way home...
...especially when you are out in the middle of nowhere.
We finally limited on specks! A nice way to end the trip.
