LAKES WHEELER AND WILSON PICTURES

October 13-16, 2005

LODGING

On this trip we rented Cabins 3 and 7 and Joe Wheeler State Park.

The cabins are directly across the lake from 1st and 2nd Creeks.

PRACTICE

Bill checks out the fishing below Wheeler Dam on Lake Wilson.

The fishing can be really good on Wilson when current is running.

Benson and I tried fishing in the current late that morning but did not have much luck.

That morning, however, our luck was notably better. The fish weighed 6-3 and was caught at 6:15 am.

On Thursday in practice I caught this nice 3+ lb largemouth on Wilson.

He bit this Lucky Craft crankbait that Jimmy at West End Outdoors recommended.

Bill and Russell prefished Wheeler and caught this nice 2-13 LM.

TOURNAMENT DAY 1

As usual, Bill must clean every drop of water from his boat before the weigh-in can commense.

The rest of the club dejectedly looks on as Bill cleans his boat with a little too much vigor and talks a little too much about how tough the fishing was. Bill has no poker face and the writing is on the wall.

Predictably, Bill and Russell have a livewell full of fish, including some bronze colored ones that this club rarely sees.

Russell caught this 2-12 smallie, which leads big fish at the time and earns an honorable mention on our Top 10 Bass board.

Trash fish lead was taken by yours truely with this 6-1 drum.

TOURNAMENT DAY 2

I'd be chipper too if I started the day with an 11 lb lead.

Is this an IQ test?

How is this supposed to be read?

Benson, our newest member, lands one of the many 13'' smallmouth in Lake Wilson.

Skip and Clint fish until the very end.

Big fish was locked up, but this 1-7 drum barely made the Top 10 Trash Fish board.

This 2-14 LM won the big fish prize.

AFTERWARD

After the final weigh-in Benson and I watch the sun set, the moon rise, and enjoyed the completion of another TMTangler tournament.
