Lake Purdy
By: Bo
Again, yes this is a report from 1997. I found this old Polaroid
and I want to recount the trip before even more time passes.
5/4/1997
Bill and I fished Lake Purdy in the small John Boat with a trolling motor only.
No depthfinder, not big motor, just a rented trolling motor. It was blue bird
sky day with a wind coming from the north. It was unusually cool on the water
and I remember lending Bill my jacket. We went straight across the lake and
started fishing at the point directly across from the Marina. We then followed
that bank all the way to the dam. We fished Carolina-Rigged finesse worms.
Watermelon Seed color. We caught the hell out of them. This Polaroid says that
our best 10 was 15 lb 4 oz. Bill also caught a trophy crappie on this trip that
has to be 3 lbs.
We didn’t even stay late because back then you had to leave before they locked
the gate. I remember wanting to sort of sneak out of there because we caught
loads of 12’’ fish. But Bill jumped out the boat, went straight to the counter,
and asked them to break out their camera. He was beaming at all the attention we
were getting from the other fisherman.
