Fishing Report by Bo:
I went out with my dad out of Hi-Ridge to test his new Maverick Flats boat. We were only able to catch 4 reds and 1 keeper speck. Dirty water was everywhere we went so we weren't able to use his boat in ideal conditions. The actual model he has is a Maverick Mirage HPX Tunnel with a 60 Yamaha on it. We were able to easily jump on a plane and motor out of shallow areas that my boat would have struggled in. It is going to be cool when we get it in clear water. The other thing I learned is that poling platforms are more comfortable to sit on than a pedestal seat like in a bass boat. When you sit on the polling platform you are over the motor, so you are actually several feet further back than you would be if you were standing on the back deck. You are also up so that you don't have to worry about hitting a center consol, the motor, or your partner when you want to side arm cast. So I was able to side arm, roll cast, pitch and flip with no problem while I was sitting down. There was enough room to lay your cold beverage right next to you too. It fished really well.
