After Lake Eufaula's lousy one ounce victory, we were all looking forward to
this tournament. Once again, several boats whimped-out and the
"tournament" once again pitted Bill and Russell against Bo and Lance.
Bill Greene hosted this tournament and declared a 10 fish creel limit, a 15 inch
minimum size limit, and a Shotgun start format.
We got rained out. The lightening was so bad that everyone decided to
hang out at the motel and tell lies.

Lance weighs in a 2 lb 8 oz drum that takes the trash fish lead.
Russell says, "what were you doing to catch that?"
| |
Once again, we were without a bigtime tournament scale. But that
is OK with our little group. We had an FLW style weigh in with
handheld scales.

What is this? A spotted bass on Lake Guntersville? What's
up with that? Regardless of where it was caught, that sure is a
beautiful 3 lb spot.
| |
Part of the fun of this style weigh-in is that you are constantly
wondering what is left in the other guy's livewell....
| |
...and sometimes your fears are realized.
Look at this hawg! 5 lbs 13 oz. She would have easily been
over 6lbs 8 oz. had she been caught pre-spawn. Russell caught her on
a finesse worm.
Bo and Lance are pretty nervous at this point.
| |
I'd be smiling too if caught that one.
| |
You can tell I was impressed. I don't recall every taking so many
pictures of one fish.
It is worth noting that at this point all 11 lbs of fish weighed from
the Bill / Russell boat were caught by Russell. Had Russell been
fishing as a non-boater in the
Alabama Bass Federation Qualifier that was being held this very same
day, on this same lake, then he would have qualified for the State
Championship and would have won a check for placing in the Top 75.
Well, Bill and Russell didn't have any more fish to weigh in on this
day. They had 3 fish that weighed 11 lbs.
While Lance and I didn't have any hawgs, or magnum spots, we did have 8
fish that weighed 19 lbs 6 oz.
Bill and Russell would have to enter day two with a considerable
shortfall.

Tournament Day 2 Weigh-In |
| |
First spotted bass, now smallmouth! On Lake Guntersville -- one
of the premiere largemouth lakes in the country. I was starting to wonder if these guys were locking through to Wilson.
| |
Rumor has it that the price of a Lake Guntersville smallmouth is one
G Loomis 783 CBR.
| |
Having never caught a smallie in my entire life, I would be looking
pretty smug too had a caught this baby. Way to go Bill.
| |
Once again, you can tell how impressed I was by looking at how many
pictures I took of this one fish.
| |
Well, our fish were much less interesting. Most of our fish were
two to three lbs, about this size.
| |
But considering the fact that we had 16 of them over two days, it was
enough to get the job done.
Final results: Bo and Lance had 39 lbs 2 oz to Bill and Russells'
24 lbs 2 oz.
Interestingly though, with the club's point system, Bill and Russell
ended up with more AOY points due to the big fish.
