Lodging
We have rented a cabin at Joe Wheeler State Park State Park.
Cost is $88 per night + tax.
This cabin has 4 beds, not including pull-outs and roll aways.
As of this writing, there is an adjacent cabin available to rent, please let me know if you plan on inviting any guests.
Launch
The park is located right on Lake Wheeler's dam and has ramps for both Lake Wilson and Lake Wheeler.
SHOTGUN start. You may fish either lake, or both lakes for that matter.
Time
You may start fishing at 5:30 am.
Saturday's weigh-in will be at 3:30.
Sunday's weigh-in will be at 2:00
These times are subject to change.
Limits
There is a 15'' size limit ( this is a local regulation)
7 fish creel limit.
Notes
I am planning on spending Sunday night at the cabin so that I don't have to kill myself trying to get home.
This time of year, a good variety of spots, largemouth, and smallmouth should be caught.
Trash Fish should be a big salt or hybrid.

Lake Wilson is known for rough water when the wind is pushing into the current. Click here to read a story about a young man who braved 6 foot waves in his 16 foot jon boat to rescue a drowning bass fisherman. This happened right where we'll be fishing.
