We were all looking forward to TMTanglers's first night fishing tournament. For months we had been telling Russell (a night fishing virgin) how much fun it is to catch fish using florescent line under the black lights. Well, those little green fish spoiled our plans. In three nights of hard fishing after dark we caught one dink. Fishing during the day was respectable, however, and we had to make the most out of the daylight.
1st Place: Bill and Russell caught over 20 lbs of spots on fishing the main river with finesse worms. The main river had a heavy stain to it and the current was flowing strong. Nevertheless, Bill and Russell were able to catch respectable stringers, including twin 3 lb 10 oz spots.
2nd Place: Lance and I opted to target largemouth in stump-filled Buzzards Roost. My aluminum boat is full of battle scars as a result of running over so many of them. We were able to put together a very respectable stringer on the first day, but fell short on day two after experiencing some unlucky breaks (literally). Our fish hit shallow and medium depth crankbaits and finesse worms.
