LOGAN MARTIN

TMTanglers held its Summer ’06 tournament on Logan Martin Lake July 28-29, 2006.  Clint Jacobs was nice enough to let us stay at his family’s house in Country Club Estates subdivision, which is not far from Clear Creek.  We had our usual large turnout of three boats.  This was a night tournament, with the hours of the tournament from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM.   The weather for practice was pretty much perfect for July.  It was hot but not brutally hot, and there was enough of a breeze to keep the bugs off at night.

For the first day of the tournament a standard summertime thunderstorm blew threw chasing some of us to the bank depending on what part of the lake you were on.  But prior to the thunderstorm the bite was good and all teams caught limits.  Clint and I lead day one with a weight of 10-12, anchored by a 3-9 magnum spot.

One of the best parts of this trip was that we did not turn on the TV for all five days I was there.  I can’t tell you how nice that was.  The only problem with this occurred Saturday night when we were surprised by a weather system that caused it to rain all night long, which none of us were fully prepared for.  But we did catch fish.  Clint and I put together a respectable stringer that weighed 10-13.  We were accessed a 2 oz penalty for hooking a fish too deep and that netted us a two day total of 21-07.  Trash fish was won by Bill Greene with a 3-8 freshwater drum.

We put together limits of small fished early with crankbaits and jighead finesse worms.  We then upgraded our catch after dark with Colorado bladed spinnerbaits.  Nothing new here.

Trash fish was caught on a Yo-Zuri crankbait.  By winning the trash fish award at this tournament, Bill's all-time winnings rise to $1,984.  This surpasses Russell's all time winnings, making Bill the new #1 all-time ranked TMTangler.
