Lake Eufaula
March 17-18, 2007
TMTanglers held it's first tournament of the season on Lake Eufaula March 17-18. A strong cold front passed through the area and, as predicted, catches were strong on the front side of the front and sub par on the back side. The near freezing temperatures and blue bird skies caused the weights to be down for this tournament. This lake has a 14'' size limit on largemouth while their smaller spotted bass cousins have no such protection. Unfortunately, due to the weather this became a major factor in the tournament since Bo and Aaron were able to fill their limits with spotted bass each day.
They won the tournament with a two day total of 18-03. Fish were caught on crankbaits and Carolina Rigs.
Bo and Aaron also won big fish with a 4-00 largemouth and trash fish with a 3-00 bowfin (aka grinnel, choupique, and cypress bass). Aaron thusly won all three prizes giving him a TMTangler Grand Slam in his first tournament with the club. Congratulations Aaron!
