Lake Mitchell Story
July 18-19, 2008
Clanton, AL
TMTanglers returned to Cedar Cove Rentals for another July night tournament. It was hot during the day, but nighttime conditions were once again perfect with a full moon, no rain, and temps in the 70s. Reports before the tournament indicated that fishing would be tough.. 15 lbs won a large tournament the weekend before with less than 12 lbs earning a check. Pre-fishing confirmed that the bite was tough, with fewer fish being caught than our tournament one year earlier.
On Day 1 of the tournament team Bo Crawford and Jason Mitchell lucked into the right bites and busted a 16-11 stringer anchored by a 5-01 largemouth caught by Jason. They followed this with a more average stringer of 10-09 on Day 2, but it was enough to hold on to the lead based on the strength of their first day's weight. Trash fish was a nice 5-01 Flathead caught by Lance Granger. Fish were caught on Finesse Worms during the day and jigs at night.
With his victory Jason is making a strong push for AOY--an impressive accomplishment for his rookie year as a TMTangler.
